Salem is about 15 miles north of Boston, on the coast.

From west or south via route I-95/128:

Find your way to routes I-95/128 north towards Gloucester. Continue past the route 1 and route I-95 exits.
Take the Peabody/Salem exit (the second exit - 1-1/2 miles - after route I-95 North exit).
The exit is also marked Lowell Street, and there are signs for Historic Sites in Salem; bear right at the stop sign at the bottom of the ramp. (If you miss this exit simply take the next one, which is route 114 south, and follow the directions below, From the east or north).
Continue straight about one and a half miles. Street goes through Peabody "Square". The landmark here is a granite Civil War Memorial about forty feet tall.
Continue straight about one and a half miles past Peabody Square to the third traffic light at the intersection with Dunkin Donuts on the left. Take a left at this light onto Bridge Street (route 107 towards Beverly).
Proceed 1/2 mile through one traffic light to cloverleaf intersection at route 114. Take the first ramp up to route 114 South (Towards Marblehead and Swampscot).
At TOP OF RAMP take an immediate right (20 feet) onto Federal Street. Murphy's Funeral Home is on the left as you make the turn.
Continue down Federal Street to 104 Federal. We are about ten houses down, on the right. Signs indicate Resident Parking only, but ignore them; we have visitor’s badges.

From the east or north:
Take route 35, route 1-A or route 114 into Salem. All these routes are accessible from route 128. Federal Street is near the downtown area; our house is one block west of Murphy's Funeral Home. One has to access Federal Street from the route 114 southbound ramp referred to in the directions above. Find route 107 and take the ramp to route 114.
At TOP OF RAMP take an immediate right (20 feet) onto Federal Street. Murphy's Funeral Home is on the left as you make the turn. (If you take route 114 south you drive over route 107 on a dry viaduct and take the right at the end of the viaduct).
Continue down Federal Street to 104 Federal. We are about ten houses down, on the right. Signs indicate Resident Parking only, but ignore them; the Police rarely enforce. We have visitor’s badges.

From the south:
You can take route 1 from Boston north to route 128/I-95 and follow directions above. You can also take I-93 north from Boston to 128/I-95 and follow directions above. Route 1 is a little faster.

Route 1-A and route 107 look like they are a straight shot from Boston, but they are both slow routes. 107 has 37 traffic lights alone.
